Webber celebrates Troy High School senior named 2025 Presidential Scholar

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael Webber on Tuesday applauded Troy High School senior Ryan R. Wang for being named among the distinguished list of 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars announced by the U.S. Department of Education.

“Congratulations to Ryan on his outstanding achievement by being named as a Presidential Scholar,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “His success is inspiring and serves as a great source of pride for the Troy school community, his neighbors across the 9th Senate District and the entire state of Michigan.”

The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars selects finalists based on academic success, excellence in the arts and technical education through essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership. The program was established in 1964 to recognize distinguished graduating high school seniors across the country. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.

Wang, along with Alexandra Kate Paisley of Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, was recognized for the annual distinction among Michigan students. A complete list of 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars is available at www.ed.gov/psp.

Michigan’s 9th Senate District includes the cities of Rochester, Rochester Hills, Troy and Utica, along with parts of Oakland Township, Shelby Township and Sterling Heights.
