State Sen. Michael Webber, R-Rochester Hills, welcomed Troy Mayor Ethan Baker and his wife Bethany to the Capitol as his guests for the governor's 2024 State of the State address on Wednesday. Webber was able to secure a $10 million appropriation in the state's 2024 fiscal year budget for two sections of sound walls to be built along I-75 in Troy, working with Mayor Baker and residents who raised concerns about increased noise pollution following upgrades to the interstate that were completed in 2015. The senator also introduced Senate Bill 643 in 2023 to provide state residents with easier access to sound barrier funding through the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The Senate passed a memorial resolution on Wednesday honoring Cruce, a Troy Republican and sponsor of the state's original 1985 seat belt law, who died in 2023.

State Sen. Michael Webber (left), R-Rochester Hills, on Sunday joined in the 2023 Rochester Area Hometown Christmas Parade with his wife Julia (right) and son James (center). Held annually on the first Sunday in December, the parade is organized by the Rochester Regional Chamber Foundation. The Rochester Area Hometown Christmas Parade is the largest Christmas parade in Michigan and features over 100 entries marching down a one-and-a-half-mile route, according to the foundation.

The Michigan Senate adopted Webber's Senate Resolution 79 in recognition of the historic, cultural, and religious significance of the festival of Diwali.

Sen. Michael Webber, R-Rochester Hills, on Friday joined Troy Mayor Ethan Baker, area legislators and members of the Troy Community Foundation Advisory Board to discuss local and state issues affecting the city of Troy. The foundation was formed in 2016 by a group of residents and business owners to support citizen-driven initiatives that promote the very best in the Troy community. It organizes Troy Family Daze, an annual fall carnival celebration that will take place Sept. 14-17 this year.

Sen. Michael Webber (left), R-Rochester Hills, and Rep. Mark Tisdel (right), R-Rochester Hills, presented a state tribute to Rochester Hills City Clerk Leanne L. Scott (center), who was recently named 2023 City Clerk of the Year by the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks (MAMC). Scott began her career with the city of Rochester Hills 26 years ago and has served as clerk since 2021. She has also served on the Executive Board of the Oakland County Clerks Association and in various capacities with the state Board of Elections. Additionally, Scott has taught several sessions at MAMC institutes and conferences, and regularly speaks to high school government classes about elections and the role of clerks.

The Rochester Hills City Council established RHGYC to promote youth involvement in local government through active participation and the mutual exchange of ideas and experience. There are 15 positions on the youth council, including representatives from each city council district. Youth members serve one-year terms with the opportunity for reappointment.
